Somehow, you've stumbled across this blog. "Cool" Medical Diseases. The human body is a fascinating thing - an incredibly complex machine with thousands and thousands of moving parts working together in a beautifully precise way. During classes in medical school we learn a lot of stuff; most of it is details and can get quite technical or dull at times, but some of it is just really, really cool. That's what this blog is for.
This blog is aimed not at doctors or medical professionals (who might find this old or "low level"). Rather, it's for anyone out there who doesn't have much grounding in medicine, but still finds it fascinating what cool stuff crops up in the human body. It takes these complicated high level systems and simplifies them to a high-school level of speech and understanding, with a sharp focus on How-it-Works and how it goes totally, totally wrong :).
It's gonna be fun,
It's gonna be interesting,
and it's gonna be cool.
Most people here will be smart enough to figure this out but let me put an upfront disclaimer anyway: nothing I say here should be taken as solid or fact, nor should you use ANY of this to diagnose, treat, or influence your medical decisions. If in doubt *SEE A DOCTOR*. Often the level of information here will barely surpass wikipedia, though it's grounded more deeply than that. My hope is that it'll remain informative, interesting, and just perhaps make someone curious to read and/or study more.
As a last note, thank you once more for coming and giving this blog a chance. If you like what you read, please leave a comment! The best possible praise/thanks is spreading the word :P.
